MBA Welcomes New Faculty

As the school year approaches, MBA would like to introduce the new additions to the faculty and staff. All 18 arrived on campus Friday to take part in a three-day orientation, covering topics that include history of the school, its academic mission and vision, student life, and technology. The group began the day on Friday in the kitchen, preparing their lunch as a team under the guidance of MBA English teacher and chef Malcolm Morrison.

The new faculty and staff include:

Chris Bullington     
Chris received his B.A. at Vanderbilt and his M.S. in Botany at The University of Tennessee. He recently has worked as a biologist for the Nature Conservancy where he helped to plan conservation strategies for the state. Earlier in his career, he taught English at the Tokyo Foreign Language College and Biology at UT.  Chris and his wife, Iko, have a son Galen, who will be at MBA this fall in our 8th grade. Chris will be teaching Introduction to Physical Science, coaching Science Olympiad and working with the intramural programs.

David Deutsch
David received his B.A. in math and computer sciences at The University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. He had a long career with IBM. David’s sons,  Nathan and Tyler both graduated from MBA. He spent many years coaching their sports teams. David will be teaching Geometry and Algebra II, working with ACE, and assisting with the hockey, swimming, baseball and track programs.

Cole Eppstein
Cole attended Ft. Worth Country Day School in Texas and graduated from Vanderbilt University this past May where he majored in math and Spanish. He will be teaching Geometry and Algebra I-Honors and coaching the football and baseball programs.

Sam Garner    
Sam ('03), graduated from The University of Mississippi in 2007, where he majored in English and Political Science and played varsity football. He has worked with the Bob Clement campaign and in sales and marketing. Sam will be working with our Alumni & Development Office and helping with the football and lacrosse.        

Kevin Hamrick
Kevin received his B.A. in political science at Vanderbilt University and his M.A. at Wake Forest in communications. He has most recently taught debate and public speaking at Northwestern University, and has he taught debate at the high school level in the Lakeland Central Schools district. Kevin will be working with our debate program, teaching, and helping develop school outreach programs.

Charlie Howell
Charlie has been working at MBA this spring in several offices. He graduated from Furman University in 2006 with a B.A. in Political Science and History. He worked in Washington D.C. at the E.P.A. and in the White House in the First Lady’s Office. Charlie will be working in Administration and Development offices, with the AP-Government class, assisting with varsity golf, basketball, microbe baseball and working with the Big Red Club and the Government Club.

Matthew Jacques    
Matthew ('04), graduated from Yale University this May where he majored in History and played varsity football. Matthew will be working with our Alumni & Development Office, coaching football, basketball, and baseball and working with The Big Red Club.

Jennifer Kalis
Jennifer received her B. A. and M.A.T. in math at Belmont University. She has taught math at Hume-Fogg High School, her alma mater, for the past 5 years.  She will be teaching Algebra II- Honors, College Algebra Trig-Honors and working with Service, the Math Club, and intramurals.

Ginny Maddux    
Ginny will serve as Director of College Counseling. She comes to MBA from Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, where served the same capacity. Prior to that experience she served as College Counselor at Harpeth Hall and at the Webb School. Ginny attended Dickenson College where she received her B.A. in Policy and Management studies.  Ginny and husband, Dan, have two small children, Caidan, and Nia.

Mike Martin
Mike ('98) graduated from Belmont University with a B.S. in Broadcasting and Journalism and played varsity baseball. He was been working with a family business, seniorliving.com. Mike has also been the color commentator for the Big Red football radio broadcasts for the past seven years. Mike will be working with our Alumni & Development Office and assisting with varsity baseball and 7th grade basketball.

Will McEachern
Will graduated from Princeton University this May with an A.B. in Economics and Pre-Medicine. He will be working with our College Counseling Office and teaching Government. He will also be coaching basketball and baseball and working with the Stock Market Game.

Will Norton    
Will ('99), returns to MBA after a career in the U.S. Army and serving in Iraq. Will received his B.A. from Wake Forest University. He and wife, Heather, and one-year old son, William, have just moved to Nashville from Savannah. He will be teaching American History, coaching football and wrestling, working in Administration and with Student Council and Service.

Daniel Paolicchi
Daniel received his B.A. from Tulane University and his M.A. from The University of Virginia in Spanish and Spanish Literature with a minor in German. He was born in England, but graduated from high school in New Mexico.  Daniel recently taught at St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, GA. Daniel and his wife, Scarlet, and their two small children are moving to MBA from Italy. Daniel will be teaching Spanish I, II, and III, and working with Hispanic Achievers, soccer and track.

Robbie Quinn
Robbie ('99) will be working with the MBA Debate program. He graduated from The University of Georgia with a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Science and Speech Communications. He also coached debate while attending UGA. Robbie has been the debate coach at New Trier High School, in Winnetka, IL since 2006. Robbie will also be teaching English I and working with Service.

Elijah Reynolds
Elijah ('99) received his B.A. at Vanderbilt and his M.A. at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has been teaching Latin at St. John of Damascus Academy in California for the past 3 years. Elijah will be working in the Alumni & Development Office and coaching cross country and track. He and his wife, Amanda, and their twin daughters, have just moved back to Nashville.

Jonas Rodriguez
Jonas ('00), graduated from Yale University in 2004, where he majored in political science and played varsity football. Jonas has recently been teaching World History and Geography at Ensworth School.  Jonas will be teaching Government-Economcs, coaching football and basketball and working with The Big Red Club.

Chris Sanders    
Chris joined MBA in the spring and has been assisting with football and counseling. Chris graduated from The Ohio State University where he played football and participated in track and field.  Chris was drafted into the NFL by the Houston Oilers where he played wide receiver from 1995 until 1997. He moved with the team to Tennessee and played for the Titans from 1997-2005. Chris has worked with young people in several capacities since retiring from the NFL. Chris will be coaching football and track and working with the Junior School counseling program.

Candy Vaughan
Candy received her M.A.T. in English from The Citadel and her B.A. from the University of North Carolina. She has recently taught at Charleston Collegiate School. Candy will be teaching English in the Junior School, helping with Junior School publications, the Spelling Bee, and intramurals.
